As the company describes itself, Big Agnes is "either a rocky peak in the Mt. Zirkel Wilderness Area outside Steamboat Springs, a laid back mountain town mama or dependable backcountry gear". It's pretty much a good dose of all three. Their products fit perfectly with The Alpineer and other like-minded outdoor enthusiasts looking not only for outstanding outdoor gear but who appreciate the quality, efforts, personality, and values of a small company like Big Agnes.
Big Agnes excels in the sleeping arena. With an innovative bag construction, all their bags have an integrated sleeve into which you slip your sleeping pad, thus preventing you from slipping off your pad in the middle of the night and onto the cold, cold ground. But, the integration of the two in no way affects how much you toss and turn. Some of thought it might, but after testing and trying, we were more than pleased with the results. The other interesting tidbit is that Big Agnes bags remove insulation from the bottom of the bag so that it can either be distributed through the rest of it, or can be eliminated completely to reduce weight. Again, you'd think you'd be colder; but you're not!
We wish we could highlight all the benefits of Big Agnes, but that'd be a big job. So drop us an email or call toll-free if you have questions. We don't stock everything, but we can drop-ship their entire inventory as long as they have it in their warehouse. Happy trails! |
